Pastoral Care
Nurturing happy, confident children
We aim to provide the highest possible level of pastoral care so that each boy and girl can flourish. We work to ensure there is a nurturing atmosphere in which each child feels cared for and important. This is achieved both formally through our Pastoral system and informally through the positive relationships the children are encouraged to build with each other and all the adults at the school.
An individual approach
At Northwick, we recognise that every child is unique and has their own specific strengths and talents, as well as areas for development. We are a truly inclusive school and get to know every child so that we tailor our provision accordingly.
Social and emotional development
We recognise that the social and emotional development of our pupils is fundamental to their immediate happiness and wellbeing, as well as being a significant factor in their learning potential and for engagement. Happy children that feel safe and valued, learn and flourish. Pupils at Northwick are well known by their dedicated teachers – relationships are key so that any pastoral matters can be noticed organically by the caring staff as well being highlighted by the children themselves, approaching teachers who they trust and feel valued by.
The class teacher
The class teacher monitors both academic progress and the general well-being of every pupil. Staff liaise very closely with parents to ensure communication is effective and purposeful, whilst also being accessible and approachable to discuss any concerns they may have about the children.
A shared responsibility
We believe that student well-being is a shared responsibility that involves students, staff, parents, and the wider community. By working together, we can create a supportive network that empowers our students to reach their full potential and lead fulfilling, balanced lives.
