Sport
Sport forms an important and integral part of the curriculum and life at Northwick Manor Primary School. From Reception, all of our children get to experience a wide variety of different sporting activities through PE lessons as well as in a wide variety of clubs.
We place great importance on healthy living and the physical well-being of our pupils. Learning to work as a part of a team is a life skill and during their years at Northwick the pupils have the opportunity to develop these skills in a number of different sports and games.
The lessons give the opportunity for pupils to develop their understanding and ability across a broad range of activities.
We want every child to enjoy sport, and we are inclusive in giving each child to represent the school in competitive fixtures throughout the year.
By the time our pupils leave for senior school, they have fantastic levels of fitness, they are skilful and determined, understand the importance of playing their part within a team, and have grown in character as a result of wins and losses. We believe these experiences are a vital part of our pupil’s development and carry across their school life and beyond.
Fixtures
Pupils enjoy representing the School as it promotes a sense of comradeship and togetherness in different sporting environments. From Year 3 onwards, pupils participate in competitive fixtures against peers from other schools across the Trust, as well as local primary schools.
Sports Day
We host annual Sports Days from EYFS upwards, during which children take part in a wide range of sports and represent their School House. The friendly competition makes for an enjoyable and lively afternoon for all of those taking part as well as for friends and family who support from the sidelines.
Swimming
Swimming brings immeasurable enjoyment to our children, it builds their stamina, self-confidence and life skills. Every class in Year 3 and above attends Droitwich swimming pool for one term per year.
Inter House Sport
The Inter House Competitions are an integral and exciting part of school life. They give every pupil the chance to represent their house in a variety of competitive events. There are separate Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 competitions. The competitions have included Football, Benchball and Rounders. As well as being highly competitive, the Inter-House events always look to promote sportsmanship and fair play amongst our pupils.
