Trips this year include:

Autumn: Residential trip to France/Bewdley Museum WWII Trip/Magistrates visit/Codebreaking workshop/WWII Coffee Morning.

Spring: Community police officer visits/RGS ‘Play In A Day’ workshop/Commandery Trip/Bikeability/SATs tests.

Various sporting activities linked to High Schools also take place, such as athletics, netball and cross-country.

Reading

In Year 6 it is hoped that children still read regularly at home. Reading is a fantastic way to wind down, and it also positively impacts children’s spelling, writing and grammar understanding.  We read class texts in Year 6 which are aimed to develop their love of reading, which promote rich discussion and which lead to purposeful and engaging writing activities.

Please make sure that your child brings their reading book into school each day.

Clubs

Various clubs are in place for Year 6 pupils throughout the week such as netball (Tuesdays), sketching (Tuesdays), art (Thursdays), Sign Language (lunchtimes), etc.

Practical ways to support your child’s learning

We expect children to read at home on a regular basis in Year 6 and keep practising the rapid recall of their times tables.

Spellings are given out on Fridays and tested the following Friday.

Homework

Weekly maths homework will support and consolidate their learning in school. At weekends, children will receive topic-based homework which is designed to enhance their learning in school. In the Spring Term, to support the forthcoming SATs tests, children receive daily homework (Mon-Thurs) which is maths and grammar based. This should take around 15  minutes.

You will be given SeeSaw logins early on in the first half term.  Sometimes homework may be loaded onto the SeeSaw platform.  On occasions we will share notices and announcements via SeeSaw.

PE

Please ensure that your child arrives at school in their PE kit on the days mentioned above.

Surgeries

All classes have their surgery night on Tuesdays after school.
